Greetings

Namate! Vanakkam! and Hello to all. It’s been 17 years now that my career has mainly consisted of motherhood and cooking. I am one of the fortunate few who can be a stay-at-home-mom. This site is a dedication to my mom whose recipes I’ve have only carried on my tongue; to my children and husband who are my biggest fans, to my brother Sridhar who feels I inherited the miracle and magic of my mom’s cooking; to the movie, Julie &Julia; And to a new friend Priya Ramakirshnan who is a foodie too, whose blog inspired me to start my own. First I considered doing the Julie & Julia thing and thought that perhaps I should follow everyone of Meenakshi Ammal’s COOK and SEE recipes. Much as I love her and use her book for quick reference when I make South Indian dishes,  I have run into several problems with translating her ‘ollock’ measurements! My cooking has always been off the cuff – what tastes good on the tongue is what the recipe should be. Many of my South Indian recipes are from my mom’s kitchen. Living in the US, my culinary skills have expanded and embraced several cuisines.

My plan is to blog a recipe a day – except when I am travelling which is a fair amount. Wish me luck!
